SENATOR LEMAN moved to calendar HB  27-GRADUATE STUDENT LOANS.                                                                  
SENATOR ELLIS objected and asked what impact HB 27 will have on the                                                             
WICHE program.  CHAIRMAN KELLY said his understanding is that the                                                               
bill will have a positive impact on the WICHE program.                                                                          
                                                                                                                                
SENATOR ELLIS questioned whether Senator Donley succeeded in his                                                                
effort to impact the WICHE and WAMI programs in this bill.  SENATOR                                                             
LEMAN explained the bill essentially gives the Alaska students who                                                              
want to go to dental training, for example, the opportunity to                                                                  
attend out-of-state schools but pay in-state tuition.                                                                           
                                                                                                                                
CHAIRMAN KELLY stated it is his understanding that Senator Donley                                                               
will not offer any amendments to this bill.                                                                                     
                                                                                                                                
SENATOR ELLIS removed his objection.  CHAIRMAN KELLY noted with no                                                              
objection, HB 27 would be calendared.
